We are a specialized video preservation service operating in San Francisco since 1993. Our work grew from a profound need to rescue the first professional television broadcast format, the 2-inch quadruplex magnetic tape. We recognized that a small but significant percentage of these historical recordings remained untransferred and faced permanent deterioration. Our founder personally located and restored two Ampex AVR-3 Quad tape machines from a network TV station warehouse to establish our home studio. We dedicated several months to meticulously bringing this vintage equipment back to life. Our hands-on experience spans decades of diagnosing and refurbishing fragile quad tapes.

We were deeply moved by a project where we transferred the only recorded memory of a child for his parents, which solidified our commitment to this craft. We approach each tape with trial-and-error diagnosis and a proprietary temperature-controlled dehydration process to remove oxide shed. Our process involves mechanically and electronically matching each tape to our specific Ampex machines for optimal playback. We ensure transfers meet legal broadcast standards for audio and video levels with precise time-base and color correction. Our ultimate goal is to rescue precious historical moments before they are lost forever.
